Issues when migrating from GSE 7 to MSME 7.6 - Any detailed procedure ?

Jump to solution

Dear all,

We are in the process of migrating from GSE 7 ( 7.0.913.100 + HF616318 to be exact) to MSME 7.6.

The GSE is ePO managed, and we tried to perform the upgrade from ePO and also on the server itself but both failed without detailed explanations.

Here is what we get when trying to deploy MSME 7.6 from ePO, which you will agree is not really helpful

Here is what we get when trying to install directly on the server, as if it was standalone:

But we found nothing really helpful in the documentation or Readme files. Things are supposed to work and install normally but they aren't.

We read most of the threads realted to problems in upgrading GSE 7, but our cse seem different. We checked in "Add,Remove programs" menu and there is only a single GSE instance so it does not seem to be the double install issue.

Is there any McAfee detailed procedure to follow for this migration ? The "MSME 7.6 Installation Guide" is clearly too light....

What is the precise order things should be done ? Upgarde package, Activation, ePO module etc... ?

If someone at McAfee or someone that got similar problems could help us on this matter, we would be gratefull.

Best Regards

Julien

Min Requirement for Upgrading is GroupShield for Exchange version 7.0.2 Rollup 2 and above - The Rollup2 and GSE702P1 are available for download at McAfee site with your Grant number.

There is extra info for ePO 4.5 and 4.6 in "Chapter 4  Upgrading ....." rather than the "Chapter 2 Installing......"  in the Installation Guide is this the detail you are after??

Thank you for your quick answer.

Here is what we got in the DL area:

Patch GSE702HF648829 has been applied first and correctly:

What is the next step then as none of the other patches can by applied and the migration to 7.6 is still refused with the same error message as in the first post ?

Here is what we get when trying to apply GSE702PATCH1 (which also contains GSE702ROLLUP2 according to the DL area notes)

Thanks again for your help

Ok it seem to have fixed our issue and we managed to install MSME 7.6

We might open another topic about cluster configuration, but for now this one can be resolved.

Thanks for this efficient help, hope this will help other people as well.
