I can't uninstall MSME 8.5

I did everything according to the instruction https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB74832&actp=LIST.

But when I unistall MSME 8.5 in Exchange server, displays Error 1722. There is a problem with Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action MCRemoveVSEExclusions. 0CACEAA5_79DB_45E6_B3C9_7B4BE2853021, location: C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\MSME\bin\, command: "C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\MSME\bin\InstallHelper.exe" /removevsexclusion "C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\MSME\bin\,C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\MSME\Database\MSMEData\,C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\MSME\Database\,C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\MSME\Data\productlog.bin,C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\MSME\,C:\Program Files (x86)\McAfee\MSME\Data\,C:\ProgramData\McAfee\Agent\AgentEvents\\*.evt,C:\ProgramData\McAfee\Agent\AgentEvents\\*.tmp,C:\ProgamData\McAfee\Agent\AgentEvents\\*.xml". When I fulfill the requirement in cmd, nothing goes through, re-uninstalling gives the same result.

Please tell me how to solve the problem?

Uninstall using MSME removal tool, Please contact support to get the file.

Solution

A powershell script (remove-msme.ps1) has been created to perform the manual removal process automatically. The script is inside the remove-msme.zip file which is attached to this article.

 

For the script to run correctly, the user must first do the following:

  1. Log on with an account that has full Administrative and Exchange rights.
  2. Open the Exchange Management Shell.
  3. Set the Execution Policy to at least Remote Signed with the following command:

    set-executionpolicy RemoteSigned
  4. Extract the contents of the attached .zip to a temporary folder on the Exchange server.
  5. In the Exchange shell, use the cd command to move to the temporary folder.
  6. Type the following command and press ENTER:

    .\remove-msme.ps1

Check the contents of the MSME installation folder. Any remaining files here need to be deleted. To delete these files:

  1. Click StartRun, type services.msc and click OK.
  2. Right-click the McAfee Framework Service and click Stop.
  3. Click StartRun, type taskmgr and click OK.
  4. Click the Processes tab and wait for all instances of naprdmgr.exe to disappear.
  5. When the process disappears, delete the remaining files from the MSME installation folder.
  6. Close Services and Task Manager.

NOTE: For best results, reboot the Exchange server when these steps have been completed.
