GroupShield for Exchange 2010 - Beta completed

Thanks to all the beta participants for their feedback.  We have now completed the beta cycle and have released the product to all our customers.

Dear McAfee GroupShield customer,

Microsoft is about to announce the release of MS Exchange 2010, and McAfee is updating GroupShield for Exchange to include support for Exchange 2010.

We are now pleased to announce the upcoming beta program for 'McAfee GroupShield for Exchange', with planned compatibility with MS Exchange 2010.

The GroupShield beta testing is expected to kick off by end of November 2009. We are currently in the process of identifying and signing up customers like you, who might be evaluating/ implementing Exchange 2010, and would like to beta test the next planned GroupShield for MS Exchange 2010.  More detailed beta testing instructions and dates will follow once you sign up.

Who can participate in this program?

  • All end users and partners who are currently evaluating/implementing Microsoft Exchange Server version 2010

Major Features planned in GroupShield for MS Exchange 2010:

1.          Support for Microsoft Exchange 2010

2.          Support for McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 4.0 and 4.5 - deploy and manage GroupShield via McAfee ePO 4.0 or 4.5

3.          Includes the latest McAfee AV Engine

4.          Cluster support - GroupShield for Exchange replication in Database Availability Group (DAG) - enables DAG nodes to get latest Engine/DAT when server is down

What are the timelines?

1.          GroupShield for MS Exchange 2010: signup/ registration:  From now through end-November

2.          First beta build availability:  Planned for end-November, exact date to be communicated by early November

3.          End of Beta testing: Up to 60 days.

How can you participate in the McAfee GSE for MS Exchange 2010 beta program?

Step 1: Respond to this e-mail with your company information, name, title and contact information to register for the GroupShield for MS Exchange 2010 beta program (before 15th Nov)

Step 2: We will send out a pre-beta questionnaire (asking for information on your test environment hardware setup, server setup/configuration details, etc)

Step 3: McAfee will provide the beta build for testing along with instructions on installation/ configuration/ test plan etc. (end-November)

Step 4: Provide feedback over e-mails & calls (beta testing period)

We have just released the beta bits, and would like to invite you to download, install and test the software. 

The process to register and download the build is:

  1. Navigate to http://www.mcafee.com/us/enterprise/downloads/beta/index.html - and select the link for “McAfee GroupShield for Exchange”
  2. Click on the button labeled “Download GSE v7.0.2 Beta”
  3. This will take you to a page where you need to sign in with your McAfee Beta credentials.  If you do not have them, you will need to register by clicking on the “Sign Up Now” link below.  This will send a confirmation email with instructions on completing your registration.
  4. Once registration is complete you can return to the login page, and once logged in, you’ll be able to download the beta bits.
  5. The readme is included in the “readme” folder in the zip file, and it contains the installation instructions.

We are proud to announce that McAfee GroupShield for Exchange version 7.0.2 with support for Microsoft Exchange 2010 is now available for customer download.

What does the release achieve?

·        Support for Microsoft Exchange 2010 (other versions of Exchange are not supported in this release)

·        Support for McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator 4.0 and 4.5 - deploy and manage GroupShield via McAfee ePO 4.0 or 4.5

·        Includes the latest McAfee AV Engine v5400

·        Cluster support - GSE replication in Database Availability Group (DAG)

Who will be interested in this release?

All new and existing McAfee GroupShield for Exchange customers who are currently investigating or rolling out Exchange 2010 will need this release to protect their Exchange environment. 

Where do I get more information?

Customer Download Site.  If you have a current support and maintenance agreement for McAfee GroupShield software, you can access McAfee GroupShield for Exchange version 7.0.2 by going to our Download Site and entering your grant number. Documentation, including user guides, release notes and upgrade instructions are provided there.

If your McAfee GroupShield support and maintenance agreement has lapsed, please contact your McAfee Reseller or Sales Representative.
