Exchange 2010SP2 with GS 7.6+hotfix - IS service keeps restarting

We are currently moving mailboxes from our 2003 exchange to 2010Sp2 server. GS is up to date and running.

When we move more 2 mailboxes to a Database then start a further 2 to another database we have noticed that the Information Store service just starts to restart itssef every minute.

We ar ento sure if this si down to the scheduled update of 7.6.

any help would be very much appreciated as at the moment we are nto sure to trust GS?

is there a particular error in the app or sys logs ( like "the store process terminated unexpectedly") when the information store is restarting?

Yes - words to that effect. While tranfering mailboxes from our old 2003 server we saw tht the IS sevrice was coming up with a similar mesage (unfortunatley - someone wiped the event logs so cannot clarify exactly the error message!!! - sorry).

The IS service just starts then stops then starts etc.....

Server is a Dell T610 with 96GB RAM, Dual 6 core CPUs, RAID1 System disk and RAID 10 Database disk (logs on seperate partition on RAID1 disk). WIndows Server 2008 R2, Exchange 2010 SP2. NICs teamed 4 internal and 2 external. Exchange set up is for a multi-role server (CAS, HT and MB) Server is also a domain controller.

Once we stop the GS services and restart them the IS service behaves again. There is no time scale for it to mis-behave so could be an hour or 30mins or 3+hours.

Without exact details it may be difficult to pinpoint exact issue.

The fact you have a HUB+CAS+MB set up it may be posible to test if simply disabling VSAPI scanning helps or avoids issue??

In Interface  - Settings and Diagnostics - On Access Scanner - Disable VSAPI Scanning and leave Transport Scanning running.

and then migrate your next set of MBs.

As stated without exact  related details (possibly with a full store dump) it may not be entirely possible to get root cause.
