I believe you are talking about GSE 6.0.2 because GSE 6.0 is not under support. This kind of issue happens if the GSE database which is a FLAT file system gets corrupted due to some reason.

Make sure that the file level scanner is not scanning the GSE files. To stop this error you can do the follow steps

a) Stop the GSE service

b) Delete or rename the DetectedItems.bin and DetectedItems.bin.qtn file from the GSE BIN folder.

c) Start the GSE service.

Make sure you have the Patch1 for GSE 6.0.2 in place. Fyi....GSE 6.0.2 is getting EOL on 31st December 2009.

If Database has been set up in with default name and default install folder then

Stop GSE service

Access C:\Program Files\Network Associates\McAfee\Groupshield for Exchange\bin

Rename/Delete DetectItems.bin and DetectItems.bin.qtn.

Restart GSE Service - this will start a complete new clean db.

If Not Default

Open Groupshield Interface - in Left hand pane - click Detected Items Database

Check Name and location of existing database.

Repeat above with your configured paths.

(Location specified for these items should be local drive)
