Announcing the availability of File & Removable Media Protection 4.3

Dear customers,

Available now, McAfee announces the release of File & Removable Media Protection 4.3. This release contains several important new product enhancements and defect fixes.

Details of the new features in this release are listed in the section below.

Note : File & Removable Media Protection (FRP) is the new name for Endpoint Encryption for Files and Folders (EEFF)

New Features in this Release:

Large file support for Removable Media

  • Files of size greater than 4 GB are now supported on USB devices encrypted with "Allow/Enforce Encryption with offsite access”(formerlyEERM) options
  • USB devices initialized with previous versions of product are automatically upgraded to support files of size greater than 4 GB when inserted on to a FRP 4.3 client

OS X offsite application for Removable Media

  • Ability to view/edit and copy files to & from encrypted USB devices on Mac OS X clients
  • Support available for USB devices encrypted with"Allow/Enforce Encryption with offsite access”(formerly EERM) options
  • Mac offsite application is automatically added when device is inserted on to a FRP 4.3 client

Support for Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Update

  • Extends ePO managed McAfee File & Removable Media Protection capabilities to endpoints running Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Update

Support for Citrix XenDesktop environment

Block Write Operations functionality

  • Option will restrict USB devices to “read-only” mode. This protection level option is already available for CD/DVDs
  • Additional ProtectionLevel “Block Write Operations”  option now available as part of Removable Media policy


Support for USB devices up to 3 TB in size

  • With "Allow/Enforce Encryption with offsite access” (formerly EERM) options
