Re: McAfee DLP WCF service failed to start when installing

Latest news about your issue:-----

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

And one thing more if the installation for the Host Data Loss Prevention (Host DLP) WCF service installs successfully, but the following error displays during the final stage when starting the service:

And you have alreday verified these things
Error 1920. Service 'McAfee DLP WCF Service' (MCAFEEDLPWCFService) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.

  • Logged-in user has the necessary privileges
  • .Net 3.5 SP1 is installed
  • User-Access Control (UAC) is disabled

Then you should wait because McAfee is investigating this issue and I will let you know once McAfee would find its solution.

Re: McAfee DLP WCF service failed to start when installing

We have had similar problems and were able to solve OUR problems with creating an Database Account named "NDLPUser" with the given permissions (Page 18, Point 6;  DLP 9.2, install guide). Further more, and I guess this was done properly by you, add the User to an ActiveDirectory Group with wich you grant these members the use of the monitoring function of DLP. This group is used at installation as Group with Webpermission or access. (using the german version, not sure what this is called in english).

In our case it was the Database User which was not named "NDLPUser" - not sure why this "seems to be" hardcoded but with this account it´s working for us now as it should. Maybe this one helps you out.
