Exceptions for video files in Mcafee DLP

Jump to solution

Currently one of the department of company where DLP is implemented is generating large number of alerts for a classification which classifies all video extension files as sensitive. i.e .mp4 files. The department is dealing with video contents so there will be many incidents of video files sharing among employees. How to reduce alerts for this department? Currently large number of alerts are generated for video files transaction. DLP is generating alerts for every video files. Is there any way we can reduce the alerts for these files. Can we put certain video files in exception?

Steps to achive this:

1. Go to DLP "CLassification" page
2. Go to "Definitions". Using either file properties or extensions, create a definition for the video files which needs to be excluded.
3. Go the rule which is created to monitor the files and open the exception tab and add the exception.
4. In the exception, select the classification created which has whitelisted file definition.
5. Save and apply the rule to policy and apply to end point.
