DLP 9.3 vs DELL Latitude 7240

Jump to solution

I cannot get device control mode to work with these machines (Dell Latitude 7240). They have a SSD and they are getting blocked as soon as device control mode is enabled in the policy. Have tried with DLP 9.3 patches 1,2 and 4 (ePO 5.1). It doesn't affect any other models that have SSDs. Never had an issue with them so when I enabled the policy, it made for a very long an exhausting day.

I'm thinking this may require a ticket with McAfee but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced anything similar and what could be done to resolve it.

Hi, bluefish!

See

As for SSD: you will be receive a multiple DLP events from same SSD device. If you do it right, then the card readers will be blocked and will give at least a few events.

Write Will you do it?

Regards.

Hi Bluefish,

Good day. Would like to ask what was the solution for the issues you have encountered? Currently I have several Dell E7240 which has issues with DLP, once we enable the SD Card blocking, the SSD of the machines also gets affected.

Thanks in advance.

As I recall, I located the device ID in unmanaged devices and was able to change it to a managed device and did a blanket allow. I believe I did this with the assistance of McAfee support. I have since upgraded our endpoints to DLP 9.4 where this issue does not exist.

I apologize for not being more specific but I no longer have the policy manager for DLP 9.3 installed so I can't go back and trace my steps.
