Audit File movement on Removable storage

For DLPe v 11, we have a data protection rule enabled under the removable storage protection field.  We want to monitor and record files that are copied to AND from a thumb drive.

When I copy a test file to the thumb drive I get the notice as expected, but when I move files off of the thumb drive I do not.  The policy is configured under condition for outgoing and incoming.  Has anyone tested this already?

Re: Audit File movement on Removable storage

Hi All,

I got the same issue for a win server 2012 VM and win 10notebook

Which I use "Device control" license only

Anyone know may It be a license issue?

   DLP version 11.0.400.152

Re: Audit File movement on Removable storage

Hi Tony

It's not a licence issue, this should work fine with just a Device Control licence. The policy you have shown here looks fine, I would do 2 things. Monitor both inbound and outbound, plus upgrade to the latest version 11.0.500. Last make sure after you make the changes you apply them in the System Tree, cam't see any reason why this wouldn't produce some results.

Removable Storage protection required full license for DLP ? Or enough only device control lincese ?

Re: Audit File movement on Removable storage

Even I got the same issue.

I tried creating Removable media data protection rule as well as Application file access protection rule for our file monitoring requirement below-

File monitoring- Copy Direction -> Incoming

Rule is able to report when files are copied from Portable device like smartphone however USB and CD are not reported. I tried multiple options including classification ( Location Based Content Fingerprinting Criteria etc) but no luck. I have full license of HDLP.
