Im not exactly sure whats going on with my computer, but I attempt to download and install the updated mcafee, and it says im not connected to the internet. i then go to attempt to chat with someone online to furthur assist me, i get to the page where i can choose to email someone or chat with someone, click on chat with someone, and it tells me the page im trying to view is not available. i know it is because im sitting here now typing this from a laptop. if someone could help me out i would greatly appreciate it because i really dont want to go out and buy my parents a new computer. thanks!!
im well aware that there is a virus, but im hoping in updating mcafee, it will be taken care of at least enough for me to quarenten it...im pretty computer illiterate so any help or advice given would begreatly appreciated. again thanks for your time
If it is a virus it could be stopping the mcafee install.
1. Try resetting Internet explorer to defaults
2. Ensure there is no proxy set in connections (in IE)
3. If you cannot download these to your parents PC download them ion your laptop and onto a usb stick

If you already have Malwarebytes installed, the virus could be protecting itself against it. In that case, in order to get Malwarebytes running you'll need to rename the executable. Open theC:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Antimalware folder, then rename the "mbam.exe" file and double-click directly on the file to open the program. After updating the program, run a full system scan usingMalwarebytes.
Make sure both programs are updated to the latest versions before running them and let them clean anything they find. If they quarantine a file or fail to remove a file try to get a copy of itand send it to Mcafee using the virus submission path described here :
