Total Protection networking compatibility problems using Win 2000 and XP Pro?

We have 3-User Total Protection and it is installed on a laptop which has XP Pro SP3 OS and on a desktop which has Win 2000 OS.  Is there a networking compatibility issue between these two operating systems?

No not really, However please mention the version details of the McAfee programs installed on both of your computers. Also when you say "network compatibility" what happens exactly? Are you getting any error message while sharing the files - if so please mention that as well

There is no network. There is knowledge that each is using the router but no ability to communicate to each other. The XP computer will not allow an invitation to join the network. Sorry that I am not as savvvy at this "chat" stuff but, it is the only way to get answers, seemingly.

Please try the following:

  1. Open McAfee Security Center in Windows 2000 computer, click on Internet & Network, click on Configure> Click on the Advanced option which is next to Firewall> Click on Networks> Click on Add> Type the IP Address of your Windows XP computer over here and save it as Trusted.

  2. You can also enable Windows File Sharing service - Netbios Traffic on TCP/IP ports 137 – 139 ( as shown below)

  3. If required enable Microsoft Directory Service on TCP/IP port 445, this setting will allow a local network machine to browse
the shared files and to connect to local shared printers.
