Total Protection - Home - Problems with Installation on 3rd Computer

Hi,

I am trying to install McAfee Total Protection (Home version) on a 3rd computer - the operating system on this computer is Vista.  I am connected to the Internet (I've tripled checked my connection) but each time I attempt to download I get the error "Internet connection unavailable.  We can't download your McAfee software because we're having trouble accessing the Internet."  I am able to access other websites so I'm not sure why I am continuing to get this error.

So far, I've tried the McAfee Virtual Assistant and the Online Chat but no luck.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this please send along.

Hi Try the below step and let me know the status.

  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Click the ‘Tools’ menu and select ‘Internet Options’.
  • Click the ‘Advanced’ tab.
  • Check mark the option “Use SSL 3.0”.
  • Uncheck the option “Check for server certificate revocation”
  • Click on general tab.
  • Please click the “Delete Files" and “Delete Cookies" buttons.
  • Click “Content” tab.
  • Click “Disable” under content advisor. (Leave it if it shows “Enable”)
  • Now click on ‘Connections’ tab.
  • Delete all the connections that you don’t use; from the list under “Dial-up and Virtual Private Network Settings”.
  • Now click on ‘LAN Settings’ at the bottom.
  • Uncheck all the check boxes in the ‘Local Area Network Settings’ window. It is recommended that you note down the settings before making any change. If you face any connectivity issue after making this change, please change it to original settings.
  • Click Apply.
  • Run pre-install from the below link and try to install the McAfee product

Re: Total Protection - Home - Problems with Installation on 3rd Computer

Thanks for the information.  I followed all the steps you outlined but unfortunately I'm still receiving the same error "Internet connection unavailable."  I'm really at a loss as to what is causing this problem as I can continue to access other websites so I know that my Internet connection is working.

Re: Total Protection - Home - Problems with Installation on 3rd Computer

    • Please hold Windows key in the keyboard and press 'R'.
    • In the Run field, type inetcpl.cpl and click Ok.
    • The Internet Properties window will open now.

Re: Total Protection - Home - Problems with Installation on 3rd Computer

Sorry for the delay...try the below steps and let me know the status.

Try to do a windows update with options updates.

Create a new windows user profile.

Removed the tick mark from the Internet Explorer properties.

  • Uncheck the option “Check for server certificate revocation”
  • Uncheck the option “Check for publishers certification revocation”
  • Uncheck the option “Check for signature on download”

Trued to install McAfee.

Run preinstall tool from the below link (Run as Administrator in Vista)

Hi,

Are you using any other security softwares in the computer.
Check and delete if you have any other security softwares in add/remove programs (or) C:/programs files and common files.

Thanks,
