So McAfee charged my account - what services am I receiving?

My bank account was recently charged by McAfee.  I suspect that this is an auto-renewal that spawned from previously "free" anti-virus protection provided by Comcast, my cable provider.  I don't like it - I think it's predatory sales tactics - but before I decide to start howling at the moon - what am I getting for the fee that I paid?  Should I see software installed on my computer?  Do I need to activate something?  What - exactly - am I paying for?

Also if you decide you want it try asking for a discount . They usually are amenable to that.
