Re: Scan Error windows 7

Open IE – click tools – Click internet options
Under advanced – click Reset
Close all windows and then try to run a scan

If the former doesn’t help, restart the computer and start tapping F8 key
From the advanced boot options menu select safe mode
Try to run a scan in safe mode and update me on the status

Click on start > Click on Start  and go to accessories

  1. From the selections - Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
  2. On the CMD window – type the following & press the enter key accordingly
  • Regsvr32 jscript.dll and press enter
  • Regvr32 vbscript.dll and press enter
  • Regsvr32 scrrun.dll and press enter

Check and remove if there exists any other security software in control panelNavigate through  C:\Program files & common files – Check and remove if you have remnants of any other security softwareDelete temporary files & cookies from your PC.Reboot the PC and try running a scan again. If you have had any other AV programs installed you should have uninstalled them using their own removal tools.  If issue still persists,Please post the below details ;

  1. Version of Virus scan?
  2. DAT version?
  3. Run MV T and post your session id

In order for the McAfee Scanner Service to run, the DCOM Server Process Launcher service must be set to automatic not disabled.

Once I set it to automatic and rebooted, I was able to scan.

Good luck all above have in the past fixed this error message unfortunately the cause can be any of several.

Re: Scan Error windows 7

Hi Tony

I'm not having much luck.

Mcafee Virus Scan Version 15.5

DAT Version 6942

Session ID 44460258

I hope this information will help to find a  solution.

Re: Scan Error windows 7

When you uninstalled it did you use the method Karthiks posted of windows uninstall method followed by MCPR? If you loged in with the country set to Au or Us/Uk you would get 12.1 UNLESS you get your mcafee from a partner. Do you say from an ISP or say Dell?

What affid is the product showing in Security centre details? karthiks can confirm if yours is 1 that should get 12.1.

If you did get it from Mcafee try runnin

before reinstalling  from your account

Build Version:

Re: Scan Error windows 7

McAfee Security Center

Build version  11.6.443

Affid 550-22

McAfee Virus Scan

Build Version 15.6.238

I have recived my version of McAfee Anti Virus Plus via my employer. Is there no Fix for this version ???

Re: Scan Error windows 7

Karthiks will check who the affid number is tied to and when they will update to 12.1 . Of course in the meantime you could uninstall and join the beta users who are on 12.1 and affid is no big deal (only 1 affid of 10 gets 11.6beta) and they can change your affid if you ask.

Re: Scan Error windows 7

Thanks for your quick response, I will look at becoming a McAfee Beta Tester. And i will look foward to Karthiks's response.
