I have three computers that are running Mcafee Total Protection. After the latest update that told me to restart the computer for the update to take effect, I am having problems. The real time scanning shuts off when it wants too even after I turn it back on. I have done all the steps in document TS100903 to no avail. My computers are now slow or locking up. What other fix is there besides dumping Mcafee. From what I have been reading there is no fix except to remove it and get a different program. Any help appreciated.

What service Pack ?
Do you have/ previously had any other security software installed ?
What is the RAM size of the PC ?
How old is the computer ?
Also, try running MVT from here http://mvt.mcafee.com and update us with your session id .
I am runnung XP SP3
Malwarebytes Anti -Malware
3.0 gb RAM
it is about 3-4 years old.
I could not run MVT because I had to remove McAfee to make the computer usable. After I remove McAfee it has been working like new
