Real Time Scanning/ Scanning

on mcafee security centre i turn on real time scanning and then it just turns off and when i try scanning it starts then it says

''An unexpected problem occured during your scan.

Please click Ok and go back to the Home page, and then try running your scan again.''

I done that multiple times and it still wouldnt scan and i tried ending mcafee and turning it back on and it still wouldnt work.

Using windows 7 and latest version of mcafee.

Re: Real Time Scanning/ Scanning

I don't want to hijack your post, but I'm experiencing the same thing.  Just started today, I'm running windows 7. I tried a system restore and I'm getting the same result.

Re: Real Time Scanning/ Scanning

Well, I did a second system restore to an earlier date and now McAfee is fine.  I'm doing a full scan now, prior to the issue McAffee found a trojan. Hopefully I don't have any other problems not detected by the scan.

Re: Real Time Scanning/ Scanning

It's the weekend so staff are scarce.   Your best bet is Technical Support Chat via Useful Links at the top of this page.

Are either of you using Registry Cleaners?  This sort of thing is often the result.

Probably your next best bet is to completely uninstall, run the MCPR removal tool (also in Useful Links above), reboot and reinstall from your online account.

After doing a System Restore please immediately run an update by right-clicking nthe taskbar icon and selecting "Check for Updates".
