Real-Time Scanning Link won't open

Jump to solution

I have McAfee AntiVirus Plus.  I'm trying to open the real-time scanning so I can temporarily disable it; however when I click the link nothing happens.  All other links work correctly.  What do I need to do to get this link to work?

Please try to reinstall the programs once and check the status .

. Download and run MCPR.exe:
a. Download the removal tool from http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe.
b. Click Save, and save the file to a folder on your computer.
c. Navigate to the folder where the file was saved.
d. Ensure that all McAfee windows are closed.
e. Double-click MCPR.exe to run the removal tool.

NOTE: Windows Vista users must right-click MCPR.exe and select Run as Administrator.

f. Restart your computer after receiving the message CleanUp Successful.
Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until the system is restarted.

2. Reinstall your McAfee products.

You do not have another AV installed? Any malware scanners running real time scans?

OK You mean you open the GUI for security Centre and then open virus and spyware protection and real time scanning and say Turn off and it does not?

If so maybe run teh MVT (virtual technician and see what it sees. It is on Tech services page link in useful links tab above.

I open up McAfee and click on Navigation.  When I get to the Navigation part and click on the real-time scanning nothing happens.  It just stays on the Navigation screen.  I've tried clicking the real-time scanning link from other parts within McAfee and it doesn't do anything.

Hi Heididew,

Please run MVT from here : http://mvt.mcafee.com and let us know if it reports any missing files on the software .

I ran it, said my DAT file was not up-to-date and product needed update. I ran the update several times.  The DAT file was updated but the MVT still says the product needs to be updated.  McAfee shows that it downloads something everytime.  I'm still unable to access real-time scanning settings.
