Printer sharing being blocked

After installing McAfee Total protection, my laptop was unable to access my printer that was on my main computer. I tried pinging my main computer from my laptop unsuccessfully. I made sure and shared my printer on my main computer but to no avail.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. In order to proceed further, please let us know the below details,  do try the steps and update us the outcome

  • Operating system version that is installed on your computer 
    • For Windows : To find out which version of Windows your device is running, press the Windows logo  key + R, type winver in the Open box, and then select OK.
    • For Mac : Click the Apple menu icon at the top left corner of your screen, and then select the “About This Mac
  • McAfee version installed on your computer  
  • Printer make and the model

Troubleshooting steps 

Windows - Solution 1

  • Open McAfee.
  • Click Web and Email Protection or click the Gear icon at the top-right corner.
  • Select Firewall.
  • Click Restore Defaults.
  • Reboot the computer and check if printer works

Windows - Solution -2

  • Open McAfee.
  • Select Navigation (or click the cog at the top right)
  • Click My Network (For newer version - My Home Network)
  • Trust your Printer
  • Check if printer works

Windows - Solution-3

  • Open McAfee
  • Select Navigation (or click the cog at the top right)
  • Click Firewall
  • Click Smart Advice and Advanced Settings
  • Enable Allow ICMP ping requests
  • Click Apply
  • Check if printer works
