I am trying to install Photoshop but McAfee blocks it. I get the attached message. I contacted the vendor and they said I have to uninstall McAfee in order to install the software. I do not wish to do this.
Is this blocked file a genuine virus or is the vendor correct that McAfee has inappropriately blocked it?
You do not need to uninstall it. You need to disable it because it will try to block every executable contained in the folder and the last time I checked it was just about 26. This goes for any adobe product including Dreamweaver, Creative Cloud, and several others. The signature changes with each install and there is not way to create and exception by wildcarding because there are extremely too many folders changing. The wildcard would end up at the root of the c drive. I made it to 5 or 6 exceptions before just temporarily disabling it.
