Phantom Program

Jump to solution

Hi I'm trying to install McAfee Total Security but I'm given the instruction to remove program 'AVG Email Editor Edition 2012'  before proceeding. However no such program exists on my computer, at least if it does it's hiding. Should I disregard the instruction and if I do what are the consequences, will the computer still be protected? Any help would be appreciated- Thanks. ( You may also find this item in the Business Forum- my only excuse- imbecility. Regards John W

Hi the risk would be that the software would install partially only, minus the anti-virus, so best not to proceed until you've got rid of the AVG product.

Try running the AVG Removal Tool : http://www.avg.com/ww-en/utilities

It will be the first or second one depending on whether your machine is 32 or 64 bit.
