Mcafee Integrated Security Platform has stopped working.

Hi, I need some help.

I am running 64 bit Vista on a Dell Studio XPS.  I was having issues with Mcafee and I uninstalled it.  I have been trying to re-install and having absolutely no luck.

I have read through the threads but I am still unable to launch the freaking installation platform and download the program.

To date, I have:

  1. Uninstalled the McAfee software.
  2. Used the McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool.
  3. Followed the re-installation instructions for failed installs
  4. Made sure that any and all 3rd party antivirus software was uninstalled
  5. Deleted all cookies, history, etc
  6. Prayed

Nothing has worked and I can't get the software back onto my system.

Help..........

Am I missing something?

Try running the McAfee Pre-install tool and install the McAfee product.

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreInstall.exe

If still no go remove Internet Explorer 8 and try to install McAfee product.

(Start->Control Panel-> Programs and Features-> View installed update from right side->Select Internet Explorer 8 and click on Un-install button.)

What were the non-compatible applications that you removed from the machine and how?

First thing to do is updating the Windows software. Updating Windows is actually very easy, first you visit the Windows Update website: Start, All Programs, Windows Update (or visit the Windows Update website with the following link:windowsupdate.microsoft.com). By visiting the Windows Update website,you will have two options:

  • Install critical updates only (Express Install, High Priority updates)
  • Install both the critical and optional software updates (Custom Install, High Priority and Optional Updates).

High Priority and/or Optional Windows Updates

Proceed and go for the custom one and install both critical and optional updates and reboot and check the Windows Update website again until all needed optional and all critical Windows Updates are installed!

Note:

These updates can be massive, especially if service pack 3 is not installed yet.

The programs I removed were EOSET and I made sure that Windows Defender was turned off.

My windows is up to date, except for installing additional Vista language packs.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry....New problem.

Now my McAfee Icon has turned black and when I go into Security Center I have problems in two areas.  Email/IM and Computer/Files.  I click on "Fix" and I get a message that says that one or more problems can not be fixed because of an error.  The Computer/Files still has the bullet for "Spyware and Potentially Unwanted Program Scanning is disabled" and it won't fix.

You were so awesome with the last problem.........how about this???

Sorry for the delayed response,Can you tell us if you're still face the issue with McAfee? If yes, Then Download McAfee Virtual technician and follow the on screen instructions to run it on your system. Reboot the computer and check. Post your MVT Session ID here let me review and update you on the status…

How old is your system?

Did you made any recent changes to the system (software\hardware)?
