McAfee total protection 2012

Jump to solution

Hello

I have a real problem,i have deleted something so that McAfee can not install/run on my laptop,it is some kind of "agent".

Anyway i have purchased McAfee products for about 4000dkr,so it is very bad,for me anyway.

I would like to ask EX-Britt about this issue.I am currently running AVG 2013 internet security, but it is absolutely not McAfee.

I would try this before i contacted Support,i have not deleted anything inside McAfee, but something that can be deleted in programs/functions.

Kind Regards Casi

What is the operating system and service pack on your laptop?   Is it totally up to date with Windows Update, including any parts you may not use.  For instance lots of people use another browser than Internet Explorer and neglect to keep it up to date, which is a mistake as many processes, including McAfee rely on it.

When installing McAfee make sure all entries in Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Programs pertaining to McAfee are uninstalled.  (Add or Remove Programs in XP)

Do the same for AVG and run their removal tool from here:  http://www.avg.com/ww-en/utilities

Run McAfee's removal tool (MCPR) which is linked under Useful Links at the top of this page or here: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Reboot

Run the McAfee Preinstall tool:  http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/McPreInstall.exe

Install your software from your online account, not from any CD you may have, https://home.mcafee.com/secure/protected/login.aspx?

(If necessary change you country at the top right)
