Java Query

I normally use Google Chrome and although I have Java installed I usually keep it disabled.

I've just downloaded the latest patch but notice the file name looks different - this one reads jre-7u51-windows-i586.exe whereas before they've always started with chromeinstall, followed by the version number. Is it okay (or necessary) to install the new version if using Chrome?

Re: Java Query

That appears to be correct.  To be secure you should alsways keep all browsers (whether you use them or not)  and their add-ons up to date.

Re: Java Query

Thanks. So I should install the newest patch regardless of the browser I'm currently using?

Re: Java Query

Yes or simply navigate here in Chrome http://java.com/en/ and download.
