Installing updates 0% completed. Vista

Installing updates and it's been stuck at 0% for days (probably longer)

it's a Compaq computer about 7 or 8 years old.

from the Computer Properties tab it says:

Windows Vista Home Premuim

Service Pack 2

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU

Memory (RAM):  2.0 GB

System type:  32 bit operating system

From Task Manager it shows:

Physical Memory (MB):    2046

Cached                           1299

Free                                     1

I'm guessing it's the upload thats stuck causing my memory to be full??

I'm not a computer expert (i'm 49 years old and can just about follow simple step by step instructions.

Can anyone help me to get this updat to load?

Thanks

Have you tried rebooting and then checking for an update?

Also try doing this in Safe Mode with Networking (reached by tapping F8 while booting up).(vista XP and win 7)

Hey Dans,

I would suggest you getting a copy of Windows 7 (or XP) and running that install disk on the system. Vista isn't exactly the most user-friendly or compatible Windows OS.
