I have a 3 PC LAN and I run Apache Tomcat on one of the 3 PCs. If I bring up Apache with McAfee Firewall enabled, Apache fails. If I bring it up with the Firewall off, it works fine. How can I bring Apache Tomcat 5.5 up with the McAfee Firewall enabled
Below is an extract from the Catalina log noting the problem
Dec 31, 2009 33038 AM org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11BaseProtocol init
SEVERE Error initializing endpoint
java.net.SocketException Permission denied listen failed
followed by your typical Java stack trace.
Can you provide some information like.
What is the type of internet connection for the computer ? (dsl/wireless)
What is the version of firewall installed in the computer, (open security center, click about)
The 3 PCs are plugged into a Verizon Actiontek Broadband Router which provides for both the intranet connectivity and internet to the FIOS network. I am running Personal Firewall Version 10.15, Build 10.15.106.
Please try the following steps:
Double-click the M icon in your taskbar.
Select Internet & Network, then click Configure on the right.
In the section titled Firewall protection is enabled, click Advanced.
Select Program Permissions from the Home list on the left.
Click the Add Allowed Program button on the right.
Use Windows Explorer to browse and locate your application .exe. (Apache Tomcat 5.5)
Click OK and close SecurityCenter.
And then try to open the program. Let me know if you have any issues on the same.
