Firewall "off" message in Firefox

Recently I began getting a "Firewall off" warning from McAfee when I start Firefox.  Yet when I check status in the McAfee app, all is normal and the firewall displays as "on".  I've used McAfee and Firefox together for years now and have not seen this until recently.  Both are set for automatic updates, so I'm wondering if a recent update has caused this.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Please let us know the McAfee version installed on your computer and from where the Firewall is OFF message is popped up. Is there from Microsoft Action center or from McAfee itself.

Siva

Re: Firewall "off" message in Firefox

Hi Siva,

The message is from McAfee itself.

Versions are: Livesafe 16.0.R18, Security center 17.8.12.7, Firewall 18.8.128, Webadvisor 4.1.0.26.  Last update 2/14/2019 except for WebAdvisor which was updated today (3/15/19).

@Patrick72

Please follow the below steps

Step 1

Install and run MVT

  1. To start, go to the McAfee Consumer Support home page, and scroll down to the McAfee Virtual Technician section:
NOTE: The Virtual Technician is only available on Windows PCs. You do not see this option if you view this page on a Mac, or an iOS or Android device.

  2. Click Download and Run.
  3. Save the mvt.exe file to your desktop if prompted.
  4. Double-click mvt.exe, or click Run, to start MVT.
  5. Click Yes if the Windows User Account Control asks you to allow MVT to run.
  6. Wait for MVT to install, initialize, and update. This process might take a few minutes.

MVT then scans your PC for issues with your McAfee product.

  7. If any issues are found:
    1. Choose Autofix, and follow the prompts to let MVT fix the problem.

Step 2

Remove McAfee from your computer - How to remove McAfee products from a PC running Windows

Reinstall McAfee using - How to download and install McAfee consumer products

Re: Firewall "off" message in Firefox

I also have this problem that just started on 06/13/2019.  I'm using Windows 10 on a Toshiba laptop.  Firefox is 67.0.2 64-bit.  Can't find the version of McAfee but it's the latest.  What is the solution to this problem?  I ran the MVT and found no problems.  Do I really have to uniinstall and reinstall your product to fix this?

Re: Firewall "off" message in Firefox

Also, is this a scam by someone or is it safe to click on "Fix Now" and will that stop the message coming up every time I start Firefox?  I don't see any way of attaching an image to this reply but I have a screenshot of the message.

Re scam MVT is a legit Mcafee program suggested by a mod here that is if you are talking about fix it shown by that program. It might fix your issue depends on what it found. If not a clean reinstall should
