Firewall "off" message in Firefox

Recently I began getting a "Firewall off" warning from McAfee when I start Firefox.  Yet when I check status in the McAfee app, all is normal and the firewall displays as "on".  I've used McAfee and Firefox together for years now and have not seen this until recently.  Both are set for automatic updates, so I'm wondering if a recent update has caused this.  Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Re: Firewall "off" message in Firefox

Please let us know the McAfee version installed on your computer and from where the Firewall is OFF message is popped up. Is there from Microsoft Action center or from McAfee itself.

Re: Firewall "off" message in Firefox

Hi Siva,

The message is from McAfee itself.

Versions are: Livesafe 16.0.R18, Security center, Firewall 18.8.128, Webadvisor  Last update 2/14/2019 except for WebAdvisor which was updated today (3/15/19).

Please follow the below steps

Step 1

Install and run MVT

  1. To start, go to the McAfee Consumer Support home page, and scroll down to the McAfee Virtual Technician section:
NOTE: The Virtual Technician is only available on Windows PCs. You do not see this option if you view this page on a Mac, or an iOS or Android device.

  2. Click Download and Run.
  3. Save the mvt.exe file to your desktop if prompted.
  4. Double-click mvt.exe, or click Run, to start MVT.
  5. Click Yes if the Windows User Account Control asks you to allow MVT to run.
  6. Wait for MVT to install, initialize, and update. This process might take a few minutes.

MVT then scans your PC for issues with your McAfee product.
  7. If any issues are found:
    1. Choose Autofix, and follow the prompts to let MVT fix the problem.
