I am using Windows 7. I have used the Virtual Technician, but after I already reset McAfee. Nothing shows up with Virtual Technician then. Next time Updates are installed and I receive the Alert about McAfee Security and Firewall being off, before I restart McAfee I will use the Virtual Technician to see if it picks up the problem.
By the way, unless that Windows 7 is fully updated to SP1 and all the dozens of subsequent updates and IE is version 11, then it's not surprising you are having some problems.
