Deactivate Windows Defender

Jump to solution

How do I de-acavate Windows Defender that I mistakenly just activated?

It was off/de-activaded, when McAfee was recently installed on my computer.

Many thanks Ex_Brit  for your swift reply.  Sorry for not being clear about my OS (Win 7).

Reguardless, due to your fine link, the Defender is defeated and McAfee is the only one left standing---so to speak.

You're most welcome.

Actually in 7 you can safely leave it active if you wish.  McAfee turns it off on installation but in any system, except 8, Defender is OK to be turned on.   (In 8 it has an antivirus component so should remain inactive).

See "Free 3rd Party Tools" in the last link in my signature below.
