Constant reboot after Manual/Auto updates

Jump to solution

I recently updated McAfee manually, McAfee asked me to reboot to finish the install. Now everytime McAfee updates it tell me to reboot, when I manually update i can see it download, but never installs it just tells me to reboot which is very annoying

Could someone tell me why my computer reboots every time I update McAfee?

I had the same issue.  I ran the batch file, but it came back and said

"Access is denied".

Is that McAfee protecting its own registry entries?

Kindly follow the below steps and then try to run the batch file , if you still have issues please  us know what is your operating system and service pack .

  1. Double-click the M icon in your taskbar.
  2. Click Navigation.
  3. Select About. Note the name of your product suite (for example, McAfee Total Protection, McAfee Anti-Virus Plus).
  4. Click the X to close the About window.
  5. Select General Settings and Alerts.
  6. Open the Access Protection drawer.
  7. Deselect the option Use Access Protection

Thank you for the suggestion, Jai Prakash.

That did allow me to remove the registry entry.  However, after the reboot, I am still recieving a prompt to reboot every three-and-a-half minutes after I boot up.
