Hi
I have had problems with Socket errors in Windows Mail and discovered the recent McAfee update to be the cause. I uninstalled McAfee and this sorted the socker errors but now I can't download McAfee again from the site...each time I get to the final screen and IE says it has stopped working...I have been on the online help and went thru the uninstall routines and Windows updates and wahtnot but still no joy.....any ideas anyone.....?

How do you do this, IE 8 does not appear as a installed program in Control Panel......
Go to control panel and to the left side click on View installed updates.
From the list that appears , you should be able to find Windows internet explorer 8
Ok, thanks.
IE 8 Now Uninstalled
MCPR and preinstall successful. Download of installer successful (this is where it crashed last time) However installer now says radial point needs to be removed.
I have downloaded and run two Utilities from this thread http://community.mcafee.com/thread/19119 one found nothing the other founds something it deleted and the machine rebooted but Installer still says it has found radial point....am trying to run RpsUU again to see what happens, machine will reboot see ya in a minute....
Hi again...
....despite the Radial Point messages, I clicked Skip and McAfee has successfully installed and is currently scanning my computer...I also have no socket errors in Windows Mail!!!
Can I reinstall IE 8 now as Vista is so eager to do.....!! and should Windows Defender be on or off?
Many Thanks !
