My mcafee virus software ran out recently and when I returned from holiday I repurchased. When I received the confirmation email it said I had to install a new version. I left this running and when I came back I had the blue screen of death with the following message.
In the technical information section it has:
ndis.sys address FFFFF8800147FA26 base at FFFFF88001450000, DateStamp 4ce79392
I'm running Windows 7 64bit
It will only let me start in safe mode with no network connections.
I don't have any restore points to recover to.
any ideas what drivers I need to unistall to progress this?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this on a dell?
Several things to look at
1 With regards to you issue, if you are seeing this post before installing McAfee onto your computer, please be informed that we have found that a specific WLAN Atheros driver (WLAN_Atheros (Foxconn) driver version - 220.127.116.113) is common to the affected systems with BSOD. So, before you start downloading again please have a check on the below item,
- Right-click Computer.
- Click Manage.
- In the left panel, click Device Manager.
- Expand Network Adapters.
- Right-click the Atheros network adaptor.
- Click Properties.
- Click the Driver tab.
- The WLAN Atheros driver versions should be 18.104.22.168 or higher.
If you have a driver version earlier than than 22.214.171.124, you must update this driver before installing your McAfee security suite. Updating the driver version or disabling the wireless card allows the system to restart normally
2.Did you uninstall the other expired version via the method here?
Thanks for replying.
I am using a Dell PC, but I don't seem to have the Atheros network adaptor.
I didn't use the unistall method you have given a link to.
Is there any other drivers I should look at removing or updating?
I would uninstall via the link method I gave and try a reinstall.
After removing Mcafee reboot and run
Then reinstall your software.
Re drivers no the atheros 1s were an issue no other 1s
