McTray.exe (Will not start automatically and icon not showing in notification area)

Hi everyone, I am having a problem with mctray.exe.

I have 20 computers (Windows) installed with mcafee agent, virusscan and HIPs and managed centrally by ePo.

In some of the computers, mctray.exe does not start automatically even though login using administrator account.

In addition, if I run ProgramFiles\McAfee\Common Framework\McTray.exe manually as administrator, the notification icon is not showing in the notification area even though it is running. (McTray.exe listed in Processes list of Task manager)

Anyone please help and guide me on troubleshooting/solving this issue. Thanks.

Hi,

perhaps Mctray debug logs help you obtain more information:

Re: McTray.exe (Will not start automatically and icon not showing in notification area)

First step is to check the two policies that have an influence on the tray icons

and

Capture2.PNG

Basically the 'general' policy for VSE and the Agent have options to show/hide the tray icons. Make your 'some computers' have a policy that's not set to hide it.

Thanks a lot for the guidance.

Seem like the my configuration in the polices of McAgent and VirusScan is correct
