Is there a 5400 engine for Netware?

Jump to solution

Looking at the Engine Downloads page, I don't see a 5400 engine for Netshield for Netware.

Was one released?

I hate being the bearer of bad news!

Unfortunately, there will be no 5400 Engine produced for our Netware product. 5300 is the last version for this platform.

Thanks,

Rod.

You're not the bearer of bad news - if no 5400 engine was made for netware, then it wasn't produced!

EOL isn't too far away, so not suprising really. Especially since the 5400 engine added a lot of Windows specific features that didn't need to be duplicated for other OS's.

You might want to get some KB articles removed though - for example https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB58673 which tells customers how to roll back from 5400 on Netware to an older version.

Thanks for the heads-up on that one - I'll see if I can get it unpublished asap.

When we were getting ready for the 5400 Engine release, a number of KB articles were written for many McAfee products with steps on how to roll back to the previous version of engine in case issues were encountered with the 5400.

I'm guessing at the time the articles were written, we expected to see a version of the engine for Netware, however product management must have subsequently changed their minds on this.

Thanks again!

Rod.

Hi

Many thanks for your feedback. The article has now been corrected and will be republished in a generic format shortly.
