high memory consumption

Hello,

In the past few weeks we've been experiencing performance issues rooted in the extremely high memory consumption by the #solidcore process.

This issue has also been caused by McAfee Endpoint Security , resulting in us being referred to KB73018, which concerns a bug in microsoft's CRPYT32.DLL.

Please note, unlike the KB described above, the systems we are experiencing these issues on are not depricated and are relatively new ( server 2016, windows 10.1809 ).

Also note that I cannot provide you with any logs/screenshots relevant to this issue, but I can and will help in describing / performing actions myself.

The main goal of this thread is to understand if this situation is common, and if so, if there's any resolution to it.

Thanks in advance,

Tankwell.

Re: high memory consumption

Hello @AutoTeam ,

Let us know which version of Solidcore & ENS being used on the server.
Also provide us more details on the memory usage trend. Whether the usage is monotonous , does it fluctuate.

Have you added the recommended exclusions suggested by MS. [Refer : KB66909]

Also request you to kindly run the McAfee profiler/ Procmon and check which process in contributing to the memory leak.

Thank you

Re: high memory consumption

Hello,

Sorry for the delay, we've been investigating this issue in the past few days, and have not come up with any conclusive information from the McAfee profiler and procmon, as we've seen no anomalous activity / numbers from any process in the systems we have checked thus far.

The memory consumption by said processes does not fluctuate, the memory is racked up       ( processes have a memory consumption of 1-1.5 GB ), and then grows steadily in a slow pace ( a few KB every minute or so ).

We will try and check the KB we've been referred to, but it does not seem as an optimal solution to problem.

These are the product versions used in the systems we've encountered this issue within:

McAfee Endpoint Security  - 10.6.1

SolidCore - 8.2.1.114, 8.0.0.81

Thanks,

Tankwell

Hello,

Do you have any leads for a possible solution on this one?

We don't seem to have found anything to help us thus far.

Re: high memory consumption

Hi @AutoTeam,

Our sincere apologies in any delay in response. Usually, we would recommend opening a Service Request to above a a thorough investigation conducted with required logs for memory leak related issues. Before you go for the same, may I know if you have memory protection enabled on Solidcore?

If yes, then it is important we have that feature turned off.

To check the same, please got to the machine with MACC install and please perform the below command on cmd run as admin:

  1. sadmin recover
  2. Please punch in the recovery password, default password is: solidcore
  3. sadmin features list
  4. Now the output should display "mp" and you can see its sub features status as well. If it says enabled, please let us know and we can disable it to ensure the issue is fixed.

Looking forward to your kind update on the same.
