Publisher's Certificate Expiration

I have a client who is installing MAC and is questioning what happens when a publisher's certificate expires.  I am assuming that installations  / updates of the application code will not work, but I am wondering if anyone has come across this issue before.   Does the passing of the expiry date cause the installation / update of code to not work?

MAC doesnt check for certificate expiry, so the behavior will remain the same before or after certificate expiry.
