Change the name of a folder

Good afternoon.  I have some users that have a need to change the name of folders.  Specifically, it is a subfolder of the 'program files' directory and is a normal part of their job.

What is the best way to allow them to do that?  I don't think skiplist -d of the program files folder is a good idea.  Is there something else I should be trying instead?  Please advise.

Re: Change the name of a folder

Sorry.  Yes -- they can't rename folders in program files.

Event Display NameEvent File Name

McAfee Application Control prevented an attempt to modify this file because this file is whitelisted. To make changes to whitelisted files, define a policy with the relevant rules.
File Write Denied
C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\AUTOSCRIBE\MATRIX GEMINI\Exe - DEV

Their process requires changing the name of that folder.

Re: Change the name of a folder

OK do you have a gatherinfo from the machine in question if so please open a case with support. We can try to help you figure this out.

How are they renaming it. I would assume they would have to login as that user correct? or do you launch like an admin prompt or use some tool?

Re: Change the name of a folder

i apologize. i feel like i should know what 'gatherinfo' is but, I'm afraid, I just don't know.

Users are using file explorer to rename files and folders using non-administrative accounts.
