Application Control Inventory File Corrupted

Hello,

We saw an issue with one Application Control endpoint where C:\Solidcore\scinvlog.bak file appears to be corrupted/damaged. This file's size grew out of control and was rapidly increasing in size (in excess of 5GB in size). Wondering what happened there and why. The solution appears to be to uninstall and re-install Application Control on the endpoint. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Application Control Inventory File Corrupted

Zrich,

It hard to speak to why your inventory became corrupt. In my experience I have seen corruption when there is an underlying hard disk error. As for recovering, assuming that there isn't a hard disk then if you disable Solidcore, then delete the inventory and then re-enable to trigger a re-solidification you should find you inventory will be rebuilt. You will have to reboot a couple of times to move between modes, but it would be less than required to perform an un-installation / re-installation of the product.

So assuming your endpoint is managed via an ePO you could undertake the following steps to recover:

  1. On the target system, from the Actions | Agent | Run Client Task Now (task type Solidcore X.X.X | SC: Disable, ensure the Reboot endpoint option is enabled)
  2. On the target system, from the Actions | Agent | Run Client Task Now (task type Solidcore X.X.X | SC: Run Commands, command: `sadmin clean c:\`)
  3. Perform agent wake up and confirm that the Solidcore product is in an unsolidified state
  4. On the target system, from the Actions | Agent | Run Client Task Now (task type Solidcore X.X.X | SC: Enable)

HTH,

Mick
