1. Mcafee trial is pre-installed on my ASUS S500CA laptop (Windows 😎
2. I did uninstall Mcafee apps with Add/Remove Software.
3. I use MCPR tool to remove the left-over.
4. Then it tell me that I still have Anti-theft service on my laptop!
5. Used ESU to check my enrollment status and here's the result:
Intel<R> Enrollment Status Utility for Anti-Theft Services v.126.96.36.199
- AT Enrollment Code = 1
- AT Enrollment Status = Not Enrolled
7. I did search all the topic that can help, but nothing show up.
--> Can't unistall it normally (because there it don't show up on program list and have no folders inside C drive)
--> Can't reinstall and uninstall it because there's no ATservice.exe in my C drive at all, and I can't download it from Mcafee homepage or Intel (https://atservice.intel.com/) because I have no Activation Code on Have-No-Ideas-Yellow-Activation-Card (or whatever it asked for)
So, what the heck do I have to do to get rid of this virus-like-antivirus-app now!!? If there's any help, pls send to my email email@example.com (because I won't check my inbox. this account is created just to ask for help). And, I'm staying Vietnam, so pls don't ask me to contact the McAfee Technical Support department for helps!!!
I run Task Manager, then there still McAfee and McAfee Service Host run in background process. And in my Local Service, there's still:
- McAfee OOBE Service2
- McAfee PC Task Scheduler Service
- McAfee platform Service
- McAfee Validation Trust Protection Service
Plus McAfee inside Common Files folder in my C Drive!
Pls help! I were planning to ghost a recovery image on my laptop, but not with trashes like this!
Someone from Support will help you shortly. Anti-Theft is difficult to uninstall for a reason. If it was easy a thief could remove it and use your machine with ease.
Please refer to reply # 7 in this Community thread to have this resolved. but before that please ensure that your PC is not enrolled with McAfee Anti Theft Service.
I did try it before, and It's no help! In the end, it messed up with my system, and I had to reset my notebook back to factory! Then, there's still McAfee show up! And Intel Anti-theft problem still the same!
For further information,
The last time I reset my notebook with McAfee trial still installed in my system! There was an icon of AT Service, then I look up for its location, but nothing show up!? So, AT service even not installed in my notebook, and I keep get the message that it's still there!!?
Please let us know if you have tried contacting the McAfee Tech support and also let us know if the issue you are facing still persists.
