Thanks for attaching the log. The installation of Thunderbird extension seems to encounter some issues. We'll look into it and keep you up-to-date.

After investing further, mcgiga's TB plugin problem is identified and resolved.

here is a brief summary and quick fix for whoever has similar problem..

If you have Multiple Profiles* setup within Thunderbird and Anti-Spam toolbar does not show up after upgrade/install, do the following steps:

  1. open TB profile manager by executing "thunderbird.exe -P" in Run window
  2. Make sure every profile in thunderbird is initialized properly first by starting with each profile at least once with thunderbird. To do this, double click on each profile, and close Thunderbird. Then run "thunderbird.exe -P" again and choose a different profile.
  3. After all the profile has been initialized, close Thunderbird.
  4. open cmd in administrative mode and navigate to "c:\program files\mcafee\msk". Run "regsvr32 tbirdins.dll".
  5. Open Thunderbird again and the plugin should be installed correctly now.

*"Multiple profiles" is not the same as "multiple mail accounts". If you do not know what's multiple profile, please refer to http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-us/kb/Using+Multiple+Profiles

Thunderbird 3 and Mcafee spam

Jump to solution

I am having the same problem that has been reported in this thread - the McAfee anti-spam icon appears in the toolbar for Thunderbird 3.1.7; however, the "mark as spam" button has no effect, and spam messages are not being delivered to a spam folder. In fact, a spam folder does not even exist.

I am using the Verizon Internet Security Suite (powered by McAfee). I suspect that this partner version of McAfee anti-spam is not up-to-date with the fix for this problem, but what perplexes me is that the version number I see is entirely different from the ones I've seen posted here. The application tells me that the Anti-Spam is version 11.50.136, but according to the postings here, the fix is in version 11.5.141. Can someone comment on the apparent difference in versions (11.50 vs 11.5)?

Thanks much.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, the version I am seeing is indeed 11.50. Here is what I see:

Product Name:AntiSpam
Product Version:11.50.136
Language:en-us
Partner:Verizon

I should mention that finding the version info was somewhat challenging. The only way I have been able to obtain it is through Help > Support Website, which then runs the McAfee Virtual Technician. From there, I am able to obtain a Problem Log which contains version info for all of the installed components.

Thanks for the help.

Thunderbird 3 and Mcafee spam

Jump to solution

I could use some help-when it came out that the mcafee antispam was now fixed and worked in TB it did indeed work, however, about 2-3 weeks in it again stopped working.  I do not recall doing anything such as upgrading or adding an add on in TB.  I am using ver 3.17 of TB and I always keep mcafee updated.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

GWE can you also post your version numbers as poster above did?

Laxdude yes your versions are behind somewhat which could be your ISP QAing the changes themselves.
