Scanning Error

I have the MacAfee Internet Security.

It says my computer is secure but whenever I try to scan it I get this error message "An Error has occurred. An unexpected problem occurred during your scan. Please click OK to go back to the Home page and then try running your scan okay."

I get this message every time i try to scan for both a quick scan and full scan.

I tried using the MacAfee Virtual Detection thing but it still won't let me scan.

Thanks in adavance.

    Re: Scanning Error

What operating system and service pack? If XP and an old service pack that could be your issue.

    While waiting for your reply

If you think you have a virus infection on your PC do one or both of the following :

    - Run the free Mcafee Stinger program from http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ -

set it to Report Mode (in Preferences) and post the logs of anything it detects.( set it to very high sensitivity)

If you want a second opinion, or to be on the safe side, then you can do a scan with the free versions of these tools :

    Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware

See what Malwarebytes says. Though you did not tell me your service pack number?

    Did stinger clean the file?

    Re: Scanning Error

Go to start-settings- control panel and system and post your service pack number

2006 would be SP2 or better

After Malwarebytes does mcaffe run ? If not best to try a reinstall

    1 First remove Macfee via

    http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?lc=1033&id=TS100507

    2. reboot and run

    THIS

Log into your account and reinstall.
