Management of Native Encryption 2.1.1 is Now Available

Version 2

Management of Native Encryption (MNE) 2.1.1 patch release that applies specifically to the Apple FileVault product for Mac clients. This release provides support for El Capitan (Mac OS X 10.11.0). The MNE 2.1.1 Mac client is compatible with MNE 3.0.x.

This release contains several important new product enhancements and a number of defect fixes all of which are detailed in the Release Notes PD26138.

    Pre-flight hardware inspection

Compatibility and installation readiness checks for both Mac OS X and Windows clients. If the user has installed Drive Encryption GO (DEGO) - OS X on the Mac OS X client system, then FileVault will be enabled only if DEGO tests pass.

New recovery key escrow on FileVault enabled systems

Systems that have previously been enabled with Mac OS X FileVault can now escrow their recovery keys directly to McAfee ePO. The MNE Mac OS X client prompts the user to authenticate using their FileVault password; once authenticated, the recovery key of the client system will be escrowed.

Mac OS X recovery key import using the MNE command-line tool

The new MNE CLI (Command-Line Interface) tool for Mac OSX Mavericks and above enables the import of recovery key directly to the McAfee ePO database from the client system.

This patch is now available from McAfee Downloads webpage with a valid grant number, via ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) Software Manager and via the McAfee Service Portal.
