    PUPs are defined as programs that could be used for malicious purposes, but are not malicious in and of themselves.  Excluding a PUP from being detected, however, is different than excluding a specific file, or folder, from being scanned by VSE’s On-Access Scanner.  KB50383 ( provides information on how to make the proper exclusion.
