1.    Feb 16 2012

Update to Compatibility Issue Between HDLP 9.1 and VSE 8.8 P1, VSE 8.8 P5, and Host IPS 8.0 P1
This is an update regarding a compatibility issue in the driver code of several McAfee products when interacting with McAfee Host Data Loss Prevention (Host DLP) 9.1+. This issue is critical, but the risk of encounter is low.

This issue applies to:

·         VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) 8.8 Patch 1

·         VSE 8.7 Patch 5

·         Host Intrusion Prevention (Host IPS) 8.0 Patch 1

When any of these products are operating on the same system as Host DLP 9.1+, random blue screen errors may occur. Host DLP does not need to be configured, only active on endpoints for this issue to occur.

Solution:

Install McAfee DLP Hotfix (compatibility 14.4.0.387). This hotfix has reached the Released To World (RTW) status and is currently available from the McAfee Downloads site (www.mcafee.com/us/downloads).
