If you are a frequent visitor to a particular product area the community, you may find this tip useful when looking for unread discussion messages. You may also be surprised to learn just how many different ways there are to find new discussion posts.
The first way, and the subject of this blog post, is to simply click the Discussions tab in any area. This is obviously different from the Overview tab in that it will ONLY show you discussion content. The other way it is different is because also shows all threads with unread messages in bold. The system remembers what you have read up to 30 days ago, and will bold any new threads here, or threads that have any new replies since you last visited, like this:
The other nice thing about the discussions tab is that it is the only place you can quickly see exactly how many views and replies there are to threads. Also for all threads it displays the thread starter on the left and the most recent contributor on the right.
There are other ways you can be made aware when new messages are posted. You can subscribe to email notifications in any area, and there are RSS feeds for each area in the community. You can use these RSS feeds in your own feed reader, or even use our built-in RSS widget on your homepage in the community. We have video tutorials demonstrating how to do this. For more information, see Keep track of it all - Bookmarks, Email Notifications, and RSS feeds.
