Hi Web Gateway Gurus!

It's that time of year where the release cycle changeover will be happening. This mean's that 7.4.2 will take over as the main release branch! It also means that 7.3.2 will be retired from the main release branch.

Here is a good representation of what the McAfee Web Gateway release process looks like:

When the changeover happens, what does this mean for me?

If you're on 7.4.x already, nothing will happen. You will upgrade as you normally would, and end up on the latest 7.4.x release.

If you're on 7.3.x or older, you would end up on the latest 7.4.2 release (unless configured otherwise).

What if I want to stay on 7.3.2.x?

No problem! To stay on the 7.3.2.x branch, you can run the "mwg-switch-repo --sticky 7.3.2" command to remain sticky to that release branch.

What if I change my mind and decide to upgrade to the latest main release (7.4.2)?

Easy! Switch the repository back to the main release with the command "mwg-switch-repo main".

When is the changeover?

The change over typically happens one-two weeks after the candidate release has come out (in this case 7.4.2.2). We will update this post after the changeover occurs.

(UPDATE: 7.4.2.2 was released today -- July 30th, 2014, so the changeover will likely occur 2 weeks from now)

(UPDATE: 7.4.2.2 is now main! -- August 13, 2014)
