Hello All,

We are pleased to announce that McAfee has finished qualifying the upgrade of EEPC 6.1.2 - 6.2.1 to McAfee Drive Encryption (MDE) 7.1, previously known as Endpoint Encryption for PC (EEPC).

What do I need to do if I want to use ePO 4.6.7?

  • Upgrade the EEAdmin extension to EEAdmin 7.0.4
  • Run the user migration task following the detailed steps in the DE 7.1 Product Guide
  • Upgrade the extensions to MDE 7.1.

Note: Upgrade to the MDE 7.1 extensions prior to starting a rollout of the MDE 7.1 client software in your environment.

What do I need to do if I want to upgrade my ePO server to ePO 5.1?

  • If you are on a previous version of both ePO and EEPC
  • Upgrade all your EEPC extensions to EEPC 7.0.2 or 7.0.3
  • Perform the upgrade to EEAdmin 7.0.4
  • Upgrade to ePO 5.1.
  • Run the user migration task following the detailed steps in the DE 7.1 Product Guide
  • Upgrade the extensions to MDE 7.1

Note: Upgrade to the MDE 7.1extensions prior to starting a rollout of the MDE 7.1 client software in your environment. What do I need to do if I want to install a new ePO 5.1 server?

  • After successful installation of ePO 5.1, you just need to install the MDE 7.1 extensions.

Where can I find the EEAdmin 7.0.4 extension?

  • The EEAdmin 7.0.4 extension is bundled with the MDE 7.1 software.

Is the EEPC 7.0.4 extension backward compatible to manage clients running previous EEPC client versions?

  • Yes, you can still manage and report on any existing EEPC 7.0.x or 6.x clients (EEPC 6.1.2 or later) while the 7.0.4 ePO extension is installed. However this situation should only persist if the 'User Data Upgrade' task has failed for some reason, preventing completion of the upgrade to either ePO 4.6.7 or 5.1.

Is this MDE 7.1 extension backward compatible to manage clients running previous EEPC client versions?

  • Yes, you can still manage and report on any existing EEPC 7.0.x or 6.x clients (EEPC 6.1.2 or later) with the MDE 7.1 extensions installed.
