No SCM, HIPS 6.01 support
Anyone else disappointed that SCM 4.22 and HIPS 6.01 are not in the supported products list (https://knowledge.mcafee.com/SupportSite/dynamickc.do?sliceId=SAL_Public&command=show&forward=nonthreadedKC&externalId=613759"]613759)?

management and

> *New Features
> - Web-based console
> -- The ePolicy Orchestrator software has moved from the Microsoft Management
Console (MMC) to a web-based architecture.
>
> - Query system
> -- The ePolicy Orchestrator software now includes a native query and report
system. Included with this release are default queries and the Query Builder
wizard, which allows you to easily create and edit queries. Unlike reports in
previous versions, results are actionable. For example, you can run a query on
systems whose agents haven't communicated with the server in a certain amount of
time, then send an agent wake up call to those systems. Additionally, queries can
be run on a schedule.
>
> - Multi-server rollup reporting
> -- If you are running multiple ePO servers, you can now run a query against
summary data from each. By registering the other ePO servers with the local one
and running a data roll-up server task, summary data is retrieved and ready for
queries based on any of the rolled-up data result types of the querying system.
>
> - Dashboards
> -- Easily create dashboards that contain multiple monitors. Create monitors for
any chart-based query, or select one of the default monitors included with this
release.
>
> - Active Directory synchronization
> -- Create, populate, and update the System Tree structure with your Active
Directory structure and system placement.
>
> - Tags
> -- Tags are like labels you assign (one or more) to one or more systems manually
or based on criteria at agent-server communication. With tags, you can
automatically place systems in the System Tree based on any combination of system
properties by using criteria-based tags and parallel sorting criteria.
Additionally, you can create and run queries on systems based on the tags applied
to them.
>
> - Permission sets
> -- With this release, you can assign very granular sets of permissions > -> for
products and features > -> to any user.
>
> - Chainable server tasks
> -- With this release, you can chain server task actions and subactions within a
single task. For example, you can schedule a single server task that runs a pull
task, followed by a replication task, and then runs a query against the update
status of the distributed repositories and send the results to you via email.
>
> - Platform support
> -- Support for SQL 2005 Native Mode has been added.
> -- Support for VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3 (ESX Server 3.0.x) and Microsoft
Virtual Server 2005 R2 has been added.
> -- The complete user interface is now available in the Simplified Chinese,
Traditional Chinese, and Korean languages.

> - Clustering
> -- Clustering is supported in this release. For instructions on installing a
cluster as part of a first-time installation, see the installation guide. For
instructions on installing a cluster as part of an upgrade, see article KB 613778

RE: No SCM, HIPS 6.01 support
MadJim,

You are correct that the new interface will take sometime to get used too. Also, the way that you do queries is a whole lot different. We won't go to the new version until sometime next year. I usually prefer to wait for the first patch before moving to any new software versions. In my opinion, it is better to wait for the bugs to be fixed.

I do plan on install the released version on a test server in the next month or so. This will allow me to learn the product and get familiar with it.

Microsoft Windows 2003 Standard SP2
EPO Server 4.0.0.1298 (Patch 5)
EPO Agent 4.0.0.1494 (Patch 3)
McAfee VirusScan 8.0i - Patch 15 - about 5 slower computers - starting to remove due to EOL on March 2010
McAfee VirusScan 8.5i - Patch 7/8 plus HotFix 458640 x over 500 systems
McAfee VirusScan 8.7i with Patch 2 x over 1200 systems & growing

I'm certainly not moving to it yet, but I set my test server up this morning. I keep right-clicking things out of habit. ;)

I'm currently wondering why VSE850 is deploying to the test machines when I haven't set up a deployment task yet. Also, the reports seem to be blissfully unaware of machines that don't have an agent. It'll all become clear in time, no doubt.

Unsupport products in ePO 4.0
In our environment, VirusScan 4.5.1 and Desktop Firewall 8.5 deployed will no longer supported by ePO 4.0. That means I have to wait for the decommission of all Windows 9x machines and choose to use other firewall product before upgrade to ePO 4.0.

RE: Unsupport products in ePO 4.0

Well, Virusscan 4.5.1 is of course a very old product. I think few companies that want an EPO also run Windows 9x client PC's.

But SCM 4.5 (and SCM 4.22 for our appliance 3100) and HIPS 6.0.1 are current products, but also not supported by the new EPO. This can not be! Only a beta version of HIPS 7 is supported, but who would want a beta product to run on client PC's? I think currently EPO 4 is a dissapointing and useless product.

RE: Unsupport products in ePO 4.0
In our environment, i have decided not to support Win9X systems under EPO. The only issue that remains is about 14 systems running VirusScan 7.1. This will not be supported under EPO 4.0. The systems that run VSE 7.1 are very slow machines that might get slower if upgraded to VSE 8.x. When it comes time to move to EPO 4.0, I will remove the EPO agent from these 14 systems and let them manage themselves.

EPO Server 4.0.0.1298 (Patch 5)
EPO Agent 4.0.0.1494 (Patch 3)
